Welcome to North Lamar FFA 
We would like to welcome you to the North Lamar FFA & Agriculture Science Department! We are enlightened to see the new and returning students to our program. We are looking forward to the 2020-2021 school year and upcoming FFA events. We would also like to welcome you to Career Technical Education (CTE) program. CTE courses are designed to provide students the opportunity to gain career skills while in the high school setting.
The Agriculture Science Program consists of three elements; Classroom Instruction, Supervised Agriculture Experience, and the FFA.
Classroom Instruction:
All students will actively participate in engaging lessons during class and lab that have been designed to build entry level job skills for the agriculture industry.
Supervised Agriculture Experience:
Part of the FFA motto is learn by doing, students are able to practice this with their Supervised Agriculture Experience (SAE). An SAE project will be developed and implemented by students. Examples of some SAE projects include raising an animal, job placement, Ag mechanic projects, Agriscience projects, and raising plants for a market.
FFA:
Another opportunity available to students is to become a member of the Future Farmers of America (FFA). FFA is one of the largest youth leadership organizations in our country, with the state of Texas having the highest enrollment. The FFA is a superior leadership organization. Through this organization students can participate in array of competitions to build and improve their leadership skills. Students can participate in Leadership Development and Career Development Events. Both competitions are designed to challenge students and develop their personal skills. The options are endless and there truly is a place for every student within our program.
This is a unique program and we believe it will be a life-changing experience for students to participate in. There are many opportunities to develop leadership skills as well as experience personal growth throughout your experience. We look forward to each of you attending events throughout the school year. Remember, as with any endeavor you pursue, you only get out of this organization what you put into it.
